UAE Unveils Streamlined Hajj 2026 Accreditation Process to Ensure Transparency and Quality

The United Arab Emirates has rolled out a comprehensive accreditation and registration process for Hajj 2026, aimed at enhancing transparency, improving service quality, and ensuring compliance with Saudi Arabia’s pilgrimage requirements.

According to the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf), the new system will be fully digitized, with all applications to be submitted through the official Awqaf website and mobile app. The initiative, officials say, is part of broader reforms to ensure a smoother, safer, and more organized Hajj experience for UAE pilgrims.

Stricter Regulations for Agents

A key highlight of the new process is the requirement for Hajj tour operators and travel agencies to obtain special accreditation before being allowed to offer pilgrimage services. This measure is intended to weed out unlicensed agents and protect pilgrims from fraud and substandard arrangements.

“The system allows pilgrims to verify if their chosen agency is officially approved. Only accredited agencies will be allowed to facilitate Hajj bookings,” a statement from Awqaf read.

Transparency and Fair Selection

To prevent favoritism and ensure fair access, the registration process now follows a structured and transparent method. Pilgrims are encouraged to apply early as spaces are limited and will be distributed based on merit and eligibility, in line with the Saudi quota allocation.

Authorities have also introduced new eligibility criteria, which may prioritize first-time pilgrims and impose a waiting period for repeat applicants.

Steps to Follow Before Registration

UAE citizens intending to perform Hajj in 2026 are advised to:

Register through the official Awqaf UAE portal or app

Ensure their chosen travel agency is accredited

Upload necessary documents including a valid passport and passport-sized photo

Review the latest Hajj guidelines, fees, and timelines

While UAE nationals are given priority, expatriates residing in the country are expected to register for Hajj through their countries of origin under separate arrangements.

Digital Convenience with Accountability

The introduction of a digitized system also enables better monitoring of agents, allowing authorities to track complaints, service quality, and compliance levels. Awqaf said this digital shift aligns with the UAE government’s commitment to smart governance and public satisfaction.

The Hajj 2026 pilgrimage is expected to witness a high turnout, making early registration and adherence to the new accreditation system crucial for a successful pilgrimage experience.

For more information, prospective pilgrims can visit www.awqaf.gov.ae or download the official Hajj application from UAE app stores
